Power over Ethernet (PoE) is something that so many of us crave for our Raspberry Pi 5, but something that needs to be done right. Sure, we could have had something out by now, but it would have meant compromising on our standards and morals, and nobody wants that, right?
After many, many months of teasing, we’re happy to announce that the Pineboards PoE+ HAT for the Raspberry Pi 5 is now available!
Power over Ethernet simplifies the delivery of both power and network connectivity by combining the two over a single RJ45 cable. These are especially useful in the SBC world where you may have lots of smaller devices and want to cut down on the number of cables flying around.
It’s probably best we give you a rundown of its best features!
Don’t Choose Between PoE or NVMe Storage
There’s no need to worry about choosing between the convenience of PoE, or fast NVMe storage. With the Pineboards PoE+ HAT, you can make use of power and networking over a single cable, as well as fast NVMe storage over the Raspberry Pi 5’s PCIe connection.
What About Power Limits?
We’re not offering 4.5A here, we’re giving you the full 5A of current! Gone are the days when you need to make a config adjustment to override the USB power limitations when the Pi detects less than 5A. Give your USB peripherals the power they need and deserve out of the box!
Premium PoE Components
We went to great lengths to test and source high-quality components, as it can often be a bit of a Wild West in the cheap PoE world.
We’ve chosen a module made in the UK and put it through its paces in multiple operating conditions to ensure it will take everything you throw at it. This included thermal testing, and everything passed with flying colours so you can rest assured that you’re receiving a well-tested product, something especially important in this area.
High-Quality Accessories
As you’ve come to expect from us, the Pineboards PoE+ HAT will ship with our high-quality, impedance-controlled PCIe cable for a consistently stable connection to the Raspberry Pi 5. You’ll also have all-metal screws to make sure everything stays exactly where you want it.
Need Access to Your Camera/Display Connectors?
A cut-out on this top-mounted HAT means that you’re able to get to your CSI/DSI connectors without having to worry about cables sticking out from all angles. Perfect if you’re planning to put a Raspberry Pi 5 somewhere remote with a camera or display!
We’re very excited about this launch, and based on social media, so are all of you! Stock will be available shortly via all of our usual distributors.
