Enhanced mPCIe HAT Compatibility for USB-Only Devices

Enhanced mPCIe HAT Compatibility for USB-Only Devices

Pineboards is excited to announce a significant improvement in the compatibility of our mPCIe HAT, particularly for devices that rely solely on USB, such as the Quectel EC25. This is also common for other M2M IOT LTE modems as well.

The mPCIe HAT has been designed to cover the entire standard, but in our testing we discovered that some devices that do not use PCIe and instead utilize those signal lines for other purposes. Quectel, for example, employs the PCIe PERST signal as a reset, which is active in the low state, contrasting with the PCIe implementation.

To address this issue, we are adding a second FPC ribbon cable to all mPCIe HATs. This additional cable will only carry power and HAT+ power enable signals. With this solution, you can now use our board with PCIe, PCIe + USB, and only USB devices.

This enhancement ensures that our mPCIe HAT remains versatile and adaptable, catering to a wide range of devices and applications. We are committed to providing the best possible experience for our customers and will continue to improve our products.
